Guest Services Administrator
The Welland Museum is hiring a Guest Services Administrator (Temporary, Maternity Leave).
Do you love local history, engaging with people, and creating great experiences? The Welland Museum is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Guest Services Administrator.
About the Role:
As the first point of contact for visitors, you’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming and memorable experience at the Museum. You’ll also manage our social media presence, assist with promotions, and oversee our gift shop operations.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Greeting visitors and providing an engaging overview of the Museum
- Managing all social media platforms and responding to online inquiries
- Supervising the gift shop, maintaining stock, and processing sales
- Responding to general inquiries (email, phone, and in person)
- Promoting Museum events and programs
- Managing Museum memberships
- Supporting day-to-day operations, including security monitoring and office admin tasks
What You Bring:
- Friendly, outgoing personality with strong customer service experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and Microsoft Office
- Comfortable with POS systems and office equipment
- Bilingual in English and French (preferred)
- Ability to multitask, problem solve, and work independently
- A passion for local history is a bonus!
Additional Requirements:
- Able to lift up to 10kg occasionally
- Current First Aid certification and Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance
- Diploma in Business Administration or related field (or equivalent experience)
Schedule & Pay:
Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00am–5:00pm (some evenings/Sundays may be required)
$20.00/hour | 6-month probation period with 3-month review

Program Coordinator
The Welland Museum is hiring a Program Coordinator (Temporary, until the end of 2025).
Are you passionate about history, community, and creative programming? The Welland Museum is seeking a dynamic and motivated Program Coordinator to join our team!
This position is perfect someone who enjoys working with people of all ages, especially children and seniors, and who wants to make a difference by sharing local heritage in fun, engaging, and meaningful ways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver educational programming for schools aligned with the Ontario Curriculum
- Plan and run summer camps and recreational programs, including birthday parties
- Create and implement programming for seniors in Welland and Pelham
- Coordinate and conduct historical walking tours
- Develop marketing materials and community outreach plans
- Work with local historians, authors, and guest presenters
- Manage programming budgets and materials
- Supervise and evaluate summer student staff
- Collect participant feedback and evaluate program success
Requirements:
- Strong communication skills with a wide range of audiences
- Enjoys working with children and seniors
- Proficient in social media platforms and Canva
- Time management and organizational skills
- Bilingual in English and French (required)
- Familiarity with CatalogIt and WordPress (an asset)
- Comfortable with physical tasks and working in dusty environments
Education & Experience:
Must hold a post-secondary degree in History, Geography, Anthropology, Archaeology, Children and Youth Studies, Indigenous Studies, Linguistics, Education, or related fields
FNMI candidates and French-speaking applicants are strongly encouraged to apply

Summer Students
The Welland Museum is hiring two Education Outreach Coordinators (Summer Students)
Do you love working with kids, connecting with seniors, and creating engaging programs that bring people together? The Welland Museum is looking for two enthusiastic and responsible Education Outreach Coordinators to lead our summer camps and senior programming!
This is a great opportunity for a student who’s passionate about education, outreach, and community engagement to gain hands-on experience in a meaningful role.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Children’s Summer Camp Programming
- Plan, organize, and lead creative day camps for children ages 6–12
- Develop curriculum and activities within budget
- Create a safe, fun, and inclusive camp environment
- Source materials and supplies
- Welcome campers and greet parents daily
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance programming
Senior Programming
- Develop and facilitate engaging workshops and lectures for seniors
- Organize programming every other week, alternating with camp
- Work with local agencies to deliver programs at the Museum or off-site
- Create and manage program budgets
Museum & Team Support
- Greet visitors and assist with memberships, promotions, and special events
- Help with exhibit setup and the handling of historical artifacts
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Executive Director
What You Bring:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Enjoyment in working with both children and older adults
- Creativity, reliability, and a team-first attitude
- Experience planning and delivering programs (an asset)
- Comfort with public speaking and group facilitation

Volunteer Opportunities
Museum volunteers contribute to maintaining our exhibits and collections and spend time assisting with children’s programs or the all-important clerical tasks that keep the Museum running. The support of our volunteers goes a long way in helping us tell the story of Welland.

The story of Welland is really the story of generations of Wellanders. Our city has become home to people and families from all around the world, from all walks of life – and it’s those stories the Welland Museum wants to share.
The Museum is asking citizens of Welland to share information on their family history and how they arrived in Welland! What brought them to the city? Was it industry, business or something else? By sharing these stories, you are helping us expand our knowledge of how our community grew!
