Position: Welland Museum Fundraiser
Application Deadline: January 13, 2020 at 4:00pm


  • Primary goal is to raise funds through monetary donations, government grants or other financial gifts for the Welland Museum
  • Will be responsible for distribution of promotional materials
  • Will raise awareness of the organization’s work, goals and financial needs
  • Co-ordinate special events in relation to the above objectives

Duties & tasks:

  • Reports directly to the Assistant Curator and the Board of Directors executive committee
  • Develop corporate fundraising programs
  • Create, implement and monitor fundraising drives, membership drives, annual giving campaigns, etc.
  • Coordinate online donation sites, including the museum’s Canada Helps page
  • Develop materials to submit to granting or other funding organizations, websites, etc.
  • Develop and maintain media contact lists
  • Develop relevant strategies to encourage new or increased contributions
  • Recruit sponsors and participants for fundraising events
  • Secure commitments of donations or in-kind contributions from corporations or individual donors
  • Identify and build relationships with potential donors
  • Create or update donor databases
  • Establish fundraising goals for special events with specific timelines
  • Monitor budgets and expense reports in collaboration with Board of Directors
  • Attend community events and meetings to promote organizational goals or solicit donations/sponsorships
  • Contact corporate reps, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of the museum’s goals and objectives
  • Implement annual direct mail programs for giving campaigns
  • Create and distribute press releases to promote the museum’s mandate/giving streams
  • Responsible for thank you letters to all donors
  • Create and deliver reports to communicate with the Board of Directors on the status of fundraising initiatives
